Undersized Wiring and Voltage Drop
The most common issue is wire that is too thin for the current it carries. On the long runs in a van, undersized wire causes voltage drop that starves the inverter, trips it under load, and wastes solar energy as heat. Correct gauge for the run length and current is not optional, it is safety.
Missing or Wrong Fusing
Every circuit needs the right fuse close to the power source. We regularly find builds with unfused battery cables, which is a genuine fire risk. Proper fusing protects both the equipment and the van.
Grounding and Loose Connections
Poor grounding and loose lugs cause intermittent faults that are maddening to chase. A connection that works cold fails when it heats up, so the system dies exactly when you are relying on it. We torque and verify every connection.
